Starmer came back to our synagogue two days after Manchester

Our synagogue has been asking for extra help with Shabbat morning security for a while. After the tragedy at Heaton Park on Yom Kippur, it was time for me to step up to the plate. But I didn’t expect two things that morning. First, to wear a stab vest. A heavy, awkward jerkin which didn’t really fit (say no more). But more than its physical weight was why I had it on—especially after our government’s recognition of Palestine which has only emboldened brazen terror supporters to believe they’re winning. The second surprise? The Prime Minister himself, architect of that recognition, and his wife, arriving unannounced.
